Peru... I have been so lucky to experience parts of this fantastic country recently. Peru has so much to see and so many wonderful experiences on offer. I started my journey in Lima and stayed away from the usual chain hotels, instead choosing a gorgeous boutique hotel in the Barranco district, where I was able to explore the shops, restaurants and museums nearby (Mario Testino has his own here).

The food in Lima is fantastic, one of my most joyous experiences was visiting a local market off the tourist trail, with a charming chef who showed me all the delights and allowed me to sample some of the Peruvian produced fruits, including my favourite, granadilla. Restaurants are abundant serving tasty local food and pisco sours are ready and waiting to entice your taste buds. From Lima, I travelled to Cuzco, through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo, and then boarded a train to Macchu Picchu. Macchu Picchu can be very hit and miss with hotels, so we believe you really need to know where you are going, the best way to enter, and to be accompanied by the right guides to ensure you get the very best experience available. Belmond has added new trains, which now travel as far as Lake Titicaca. From there we headed back to Cuzco for a few days exploring its historical gems and bustling markets, before travelling up the coast to Mancora. We spent a couple of days at a beautiful retreat right on the beach followed by a wonderful boat trip down the Amazon River in the heart of the rainforest. Peru is truly a magnificent adventure and our partners on the ground there are absolutely the best, offering incredible experiences with wonderful guides and insider recommendations.

If you would like to plan a holiday there, we would be delighted to help. Peru is incredibly beautiful and you need to put a bit of effort in to make the most of it. It is great for families as well as couples. Choose the right time to go and I promise you will not be disappointed. I am planning to return as soon as I can...

Every time I explore a new destination, whether it’s on an adventure holiday in Peru or a luxury beach escape in the Indian Ocean, I return home full of excitement to share the amazing sights I have seen. Through my own experiences I have developed a love of helping others experience the great wonders of the world; truly getting under the skin of the extraordinary destinations that are at your fingertips. Getting the details right, from which hotel is perfectly located for exploring away from the crowds, to which local guide is most knowledgeable on history or culture or art, is of paramount importance to me. I am constantly seeking out new and exciting experiences and exploring off the beaten track to ensure my clients are receiving the best and most honest first-hand advice.
